Connecting People, Institutions, and Cultures

For over a decade, Hoi en Dream has been quietly building long-term educational bridges between Europe and China — through trust, depth, and real exchange.

Hoi en Dream, since 2014

About Hoi en Dream

Hoi en Dream is a Netherlands-based international education exchange organisation, founded in 2014.
We specialise in designing and operating long-term, project-based educational exchanges between European and Chinese institutions.

Our work spans universities, research institutes, and secondary schools. Rather than offering standardised programmes, we focus on tailor-made cooperation — grounded in academic quality, cultural sensitivity, and mutual respect.

Over the years, our work has included:

  • The first summer school of TU Delft’s Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment in China

  • Long-standing friendship school programmes between Dutch and Chinese secondary schools

  • University-level exchange, study visits, and thematic summer programmes across Europe

  • Fully international summer camps bringing together students from multiple countries

Many of our participants do not simply “visit” another country — they live with local families, study alongside local students, and return with friendships and perspectives that often extend far beyond the programme itself.

What We Do

At Hoi en Dream, we work across three interconnected layers of international education.

University Cooperation & Academic Exchange

We collaborate with European and Chinese universities to design short-term and project-based academic programmes, including summer schools, study visits, and thematic workshops. Our role often lies in coordination, cultural mediation, and programme design — ensuring academic depth and smooth cross-border cooperation.

Secondary School Exchange & Friendship Programmes

Since our early years, we have been deeply involved in secondary-school exchange initiatives. We help schools build long-term partnerships, organise reciprocal visits, and create safe, meaningful environments for young students to experience another culture — often by living with host families and participating in everyday school life.

Our summer programmes have evolved over time — from China-focused European study tours to fully international summer camps with students from different countries and educational systems. What remains constant is our emphasis on quality, care, and cultural depth, rather than scale.

International & Intercultural Summer Programmes

Our Working Philosophy

Having worked in international education for over a decade, we believe that not every opportunity is inherently good. Educational exchange requires care, realism and respect for different developmental stages — for students, families and institutions alike. For this reason, we work selectively, and we do not promote programmes that we are not prepared to stand behind.

What Matters to Us

Intercultural Contact
We believe real understanding grows from human connection. We work face to face, across languages and cultures, to resolve complexity rather than avoid it.

Safety and Trust
International exchange only works when safety is taken seriously. We operate through long-standing partners and reliable local networks in both Europe and China.

Avoiding Unnecessary Trouble
Many intercultural challenges are not dramatic, but subtle. We help students and institutions navigate them calmly, so that small misunderstandings do not overshadow meaningful experiences.

Feeling at Home, Not Just Abroad
Experiencing another culture should not feel like standing outside a window. Our programmes are designed to help participants truly step inside — into daily life, history, and shared moments.
