Who we are

behind every long-term collaboration is a small group of people who care deeply about how things are done.

At Hoi en Dream, our work is shaped by lived experience — of studying, working, negotiating, and building trust across cultures over many years.

The Founders

Hoi en Dream was founded by a small group of educators and practitioners who have lived, studied, and worked in the Netherlands for many years.

All founders received their master’s degrees in the Netherlands and have been deeply embedded in the Dutch education system and society long before starting Hoi en Dream. Their shared background across European universities, international education projects, and cross-cultural cooperation shaped the organisation’s long-term orientation and working style.

What brought the founders together was not a business opportunity, but a common frustration:
too many international education programmes looked impressive on paper, yet failed to truly care for students, families, and institutions once cultural, academic, or personal challenges emerged.

Having worked on both sides — with European universities and research institutes, and with Chinese schools and families — the founders understood how easily misunderstandings arise when educational systems, expectations, and communication styles differ. Hoi en Dream was created as a bridge grounded in lived experience, not abstract consultancy.

Rather than scaling quickly, the founders chose to work slowly, selectively, and responsibly — designing programmes they would feel comfortable recommending to their own students and families.

A Network of Trusted Expertise

Hoi en Dream does not operate as a large organisation. Instead, we work with a small, long-term network of trusted professionals, whose expertise supports our projects where it matters most.

Our work is supported by people who have spent many years inside education systems, universities, and international programmes — and who understand that international education requires care, structure, and responsibility.

Around the founders, Hoi en Dream works with expert partners including:

  • international education specialists with decades of experience in secondary and higher education, familiar with curriculum systems, safeguarding responsibilities, and student development across cultures

  • academic advisors and programme designers with hands-on experience in European university systems and international academic cooperation

  • student support and study guidance professionals working closely with families and students at different stages of their educational journey

  • career development and employability advisors supporting students already studying in Europe, particularly during transition moments and post-study planning

These experts are not presented as a visible “panel”, but work quietly behind the scenes, contributing where their experience is most needed — from programme design and student preparation to academic adaptation and post-study orientation.

Together, the founders and their expert network share one principle:
international education should feel safe, meaningful, and human — not rushed or transactional.

We believe that good international education work is often invisible.
When things run smoothly, it is because the right people were involved — quietly, carefully, and at the right moment.
